Women the Target of Unique New Health and Fitness Book

Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 1, 2005

Women across America will lose their weight and keep it off when they learn the truth about permanent weight loss. Laurie Bell’s, Lose the Lies, Lose the Weight: The Ultimate Guide to Permanent Weight Loss covers the psychology, nutrition and exercises designed to help women take a proactive approach to fitness. It does this by dispelling the myths women believe that prevent them from losing weight while providing concrete, easy-to-follow action steps.

Frustrated dieters will benefit tremendously from this new book by learning about the destructive, manipulative, nutrition and exercise lies that sabotage success in weight loss. After dispelling the myths, Lose the Lies, Lose the Weight focuses on developing a solid nutritional foundation combined with regular exercise.

The book is complete with nutrition charts, meal schedules, fully illustrated workout plans, written in an easy-to-follow and motivating style. Bell’s use of humor on this serious topic will keep readers engaged.

Author Laurie Bell does not believe in quick fixes. Lose the Lies, Lose the Weight teaches readers how to make steady and effective changes which will lead to lifelong fitness.

At 41 years old, after two kids, Laurie Bell is an inspiration to millions of women. “I wrote this book to motivate women to take control of their fitness. If this 41-year-old mother of two lost her weight and kept it off 18 years, millions of other women can beat their weight battle too, simply by following my system,” says Bell.

Women who are serious about wanting to beat aging and get in great shape will find Lose the Lies, Lose the Weight an important step in the right direction. Tracy L. Boykin, R.D. of the Clinical Nutrition Center in Denver, described the book as, “The most complete program for women I’ve ever seen in my 23 years as a registered dietitian specializing in weight control.”

Diet-to-Go Asks: Isn’t it TIME You Listened to the Facts About Weight Loss?

Diet-to-Go Asks: Isn’t it TIME You Listened to the Facts About Weight Loss?

TIME Magazine Cover

Lorton, VA (PRWEB) August 29, 2009

Officials at Diet-to-Go, a national leader in deliciously healthy, ready to heat and eat meals, are applauding the recent TIME magazine cover story that reveals exercise won’t help you lose weight – healthy weight loss is all about portion-controlled, properly balanced meals.

While the findings revealed in the August 17, 2009 TIME feature “The Myth About Exercise” aren’t news to the weight loss experts at Diet-to-Go, they are making many overweight Americans sit up and take notice. And that’s a good thing.

“This is validation for what we’ve been preaching for the past 19 years,” notes Diet-to-Go founder and CEO Hilton Davis. “Exercise is important – but that alone won’t help you lose weight. For weight loss, you need to adjust how and what you eat along with an exercise regimen to have a well balanced approach.”

Davis says his company’s three meal plans – Traditional Low Fat, Vegetarian Low-Fat and Low-Carb – meet the guidelines of major health organizations like the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.

“Our hope is that the millions of men and women who need to lose pounds for health reasons take this TIME magazine feature to heart and then take action to get their weight under control,” Davis says.

The TIME feature noted that despite the fact millions of Americans have gym memberships, obesity continues to rise. And with obesity comes an increased risk of major health issues such as diabetes and heart disease.

“In general, for weight loss, exercise is pretty useless,” says Eric Ravussin, chair in diabetes and metabolism at Louisiana State University and a prominent exercise researcher, who is quoted in the TIME feature.

According to the TIME feature, “The basic problem is that while it’s true that exercise burns calories and that you must burn calories to lose weight, exercise has another effect: it can stimulate hunger. That causes us to eat more, which in turn can negate the weight-loss benefits we just accrued. Exercise, in other words, isn’t necessarily helping us lose weight. It may even be making it harder…

“In short, it’s what you eat, not how hard you try to work it off, that matters more in losing weight. You should exercise to improve your health, but be warned: fiery spurts of vigorous exercise could lead to weight gain.”

To read the entire TIME magazine feature, visit the TIME web site.

Michelle Agin, Diet-to-Go’s director of marketing, is excited that a major news outlet has exposed the myth of exercise and drawn attention back to the importance of a healthy diet.

“Sadly, people have heard it 100 times and yet they still choose to ignore sound advice.” Agin notes. “Diet-to-Go has helped tens of thousands of people lose weight effectively by providing great-tasting, balanced meals that take the guesswork out of dieting. It is our hope that we can help alter the course of this obesity epidemic that is hitting our country.”

Weight Control Expert Says CalorieKing.com Ideal for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

Weight Control Expert Says CalorieKing.com Ideal for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

CalorieKing Success Story: Callie went from 230 to 140 lbs!

La Mesa, CA (PRWEB) December 23, 2009

It happens every year. The holidays hit and celebration mode kicks in, with indulgence in good times and food that can be hard to resist. Although the pounds put on during the holidays can be dieted away short-term, they’re likely to come right back and stay. It’s usually holiday weight gain that’s responsible for those nagging few pounds gained every year.

So how can holiday weight be kept at bay? Quit dieting. Instead, try to hold the line on the amount of calories taken in so instead of gaining five pounds, only gain two. Science-based CalorieKing.com, freshly updated and enhanced, is an ideal tool for losing and maintaining weight, according to Dallas weight control and obesity expert Dr. Lewis Pincus.

“Dieting is a quick fix and the weight comes back. For permanent weight loss, it’s a matter of keeping track of your calories. Research shows us that keeping records is the only way you’re going to succeed with long-term weight control,” said Dr. Pincus.

Dr. Pincus uses newly updated CalorieKing.com in his weight control program to help patients lose and manage weight. The site uses the latest interactive weight loss tools to instantly convert food and activity into calories so users can see how they’re doing in hitting their daily calorie target.

“My patients use the online CalorieKing program because the tools make it easy to stay on top of calories and exercise. They also get a good understanding of the science of weight control and their relationship with food through tutorials. Support is important, too, so the online community is a true benefit,” said Dr. Pincus, who keeps track of his patients’ progress through CalorieKing’s health professional site.

Like all CalorieKing members, Dr. Pincus’ patients use an online diary to track meals, snacks and exercise. The easy-to-use interface lets the users drag and drop selections from the 55,000-plus items in the food database, which includes food from popular restaurants. They also track physical activity and how much water they’re drinking.

The CalorieKing diary and food database are eye-openers. Eating a typical holiday meal of ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll with butter and a slice of commercially-made apple pie, for instance, puts roughly 839 calories into your body. To get rid of those calories you’d have to walk for more than four hours, jog for almost two hours or ride a bike for two-plus hours. And that’s just one meal.

“Go ahead and enjoy the holidays,” said Dr. Pincus. “Pick a date to get back to your everyday control routine.”

To begin watching holiday weight today there are tools available to help keep track of calories and exercise. Join the interactive program at CalorieKing.com , or use the book CalorieKing Calorie, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter, a pedometer or a portion control plate to get started.
